Art Gala and Classes

Save the date! Thursday March 5, 2020 we will hold our annual PS 102 Art Gala. Our theme this year is Wonder.  Student work made during our in-school art programs will be featured alongside work created in workshops led by parent teaching artists that will take place 1/31/20-2/29/20 after school hours, during the February break and Saturday academy.  Look for the printed flier coming home 1/27 - or sign up for classes by downloading the form now!   Art Class Sign Up 2020.docx Our school calendar will list all classes and show when they are full.   We are also looking for donations and volunteers for the PTA Art Gala Raffle.   See Art Gala Class Basket Donations 2020.docx   The easiest way to pay is via the PTA Pay Pal account ps102.pta.info@gmail.com

  • Application Open for Kindergarten - September 2020 - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SUNDAY 1/26/20

    If your child was born in 2015, be sure to apply to kindergarten by Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Just choose up to 12 programs for your child's kindergarten application and then apply one of three ways:

    1. Online with MySchools—all you need to get started is an email address and some basic information about your child. When you're done with the application, don't forget to click the "Submit Application" button!

    1. By phone at 718-935-2009

    1. In person at a Family Welcome Center

    No matter how you plan to apply, visit MySchools to explore your child's kindergarten options—you can search for schools by location, accessibility, and more.

    • Yoga & Meditation Classes

      FREE classes for PS 102 students and their families are starting on Saturday mornings 1/11/20 and continuing on all Saturdays when Saturday Academy is in session.  Classes will meet at 10am. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel if you can.  Parents are very welcome to participate with their children.  Arrive a few minutes early to get up to the gym (where we will meet) and be ready to start.  Sign-in begins at 9:45am.  Classes are led by parent & yoga teacher Sanmati Naik Kumar.     • College Awareness Day Friday January 10th

      Join us in the citywide DOE  College Awareness Day by talking to your children about college and career choices.  Staff, students and visitors are encouraged to wear a shirt, scarf, hat or other item that features a college logo.  Activities will take place in classrooms and throughout the building.

    • Upcoming PTA Meetings:

      Please attend our January 2020 meetings.  Make a New Year's Resolution to support our school by becoming involved with our wonderful PTA!  Our General meeting will take place on Wednesday January 8th at 8:45 a.m.  January  Student of the Month Awards will be presented. Our Executive Board meets on Wednesday January 22nd at 6:30pm.  All are welcome to attend both meetings.  We have a lot of great activities planned for the 2020!

    • Art Gala!

      Calling all teaching artists (professional or just willing and able!) Our annual Art Gala will be held during parent-teacher conferences on March 5th. We would like to schedule 12 or more workshops led by parent teaching artists during the February school break and during Saturday academy or afternoons throughout February.  Contact Nishani Pierre-Louis, Tamara Stern or Margaret Sheri if you would like to lead a class!  Material fee of $10 will be charged for each participant and all supplies will be reimbursed by the PTA.  Our theme this year is Wonder.

    • Spirit Wear

      PS 102 Tee-Shirts and School Spirit Wear are sold by the PTA to raise school spirit and can also be worn in lieu of formal assembly dress on Friday school assemblies.  Orders can be placed by sending in the attached paper form and payment. They will aslo be sold at the January 14th Winter Parent-Teacher Conferences.

      NYC Schools Account

      2019 NYS ELA and Math Test Scores  are now available on-line at www.mystudent.nyc.  Letters on signing up for access to this account are sent home the week of September 6-12th.  f you cannot find this letter or need help, send an email with your child's name and class to melliotsheri@schools.nyc.gov for instructions and an access code.  This account also allows access to report cards, attendance and fitness records.   A separate myschools.nyc account was created by the DOE this year for applying to middle school, high school,kindergarten, pre-K and G&T programs.
